Psychedelic Transformations
What is the ontological status of psychedelic-induced mental states? Do psychedelic experiences have epistemic import? Can there be informed consent for transformative experiences, such as psychedelics? What are the special obligations of therapists working in psychedelic-supported therapy? These are some of the questions I work on in the context of the Psychedelic Transformation Project.

DIALOGUE – A UK-German Research Cooperation in Philosophy of Psychiatry
DIALOGUE is an association of philosophers dedicated to fostering collaboration between UK and German scholars in the philosophy of psychiatry. In this research network, organised by Edward Harcourt from Oxford University (PI, UK side) and Adrian Kind (PI, German side), we are currently preparing research projects in different areas of the field.

Philosophy of Strength and Physique Sports
Since Plato’s Academy, philosophers have been interested in the nature and purpose of physical excellence. Examining modern strength and physique sports, this age-old interest gives rise to various classical questions that can be addressed in this context (e.g., what is physical strength?) as well as new questions emerging from contemporary developments in physical culture (e.g., is bodybuilding a sport?). The purpose of this project is to explore these and related questions in collaboration with philosophers, sports scientists, and historians specializing in physical culture.

How we know about other minds is a classical problem in philosophy. Psychiatry provides a unique instance of this problem: how do we understand what is going on in other minds when aspects of those minds manifest in ways that differ from our own experiences? Psychiatry seems to assume a solution to this issue, as a core part of what psychiatrists do is diagnose psychopathological mental phenomena in patients—phenomena that the psychiatrists themselves have often not experienced. How does a psychiatrist understand what is going on in a patient’s mind in cases of atypical mental states? Addressing this issue was the focus of my PhD.
